Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Miller – a Houston tradition!
This unique group has dedicated itself to rescuing, preserving, and reinterpreting the sounds of the Mixtec people of Oaxaca with new arrangements of traditional works. They’ve spent years exploring the states of Guerrero, Puebla, Oaxaca and the transnational community to create the perfect sound.
Blending the traditional music with strings, wind instruments, and percussion this group is a cultural delight! Having played venues around the U.S. and Mexico such as the Lincoln Center in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Getty Museum at Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago or recently Stanford to the Center for the Arts in Mexico City, The Henestrosa Library in Oaxaca, and even the fandangos in communities like El Jicaral, Coicoyán de las Flores or Yucuquimi de Ocampo, in Oaxaca, Miller is proud to have them grace our beloved stage during our 100th Anniversary season.
