There’s something for everyone this Cinco de Mayo at Miller! A concert with Tlen-Huicani…The Singers of Veracruz is like taking a journey through Mexico’s music. Villalobos Brothers have been acclaimed as one of today’s leading Contemporary Mexican ensembles celebrating the richness of Mexican folk music and the intricate harmonies of jazz and classical music.

Along with their traditional costumes and instruments, a concert with Tlen-Huicani (pronounced wee-KAH-nee) is like taking a journey through Mexico’s music, time, and place. Meaning “the singers” in their indigenous Indian language of Nahuatl, Tlen-Huicani makes the beautiful “harpa jarocha” -- or folk harp -- the centerpiece of their music. Since 1973, Tlen-Huicani's music and international achievements have earned the honor of "Best Folk Group in Mexico" by the Union of Music and Theater Critics. In 2013, the governor of Veracruz honored them for 40 years of service to the development of the cultural landscape of Veracruz. The group has shared stages with some of the top orchestras in Mexico and Latin America, including the National Symphony of Mexico with Maestra Alondra de la Parra, as well as symphonies in Queretaro, Veracruz, and Xalapa.

Villalobos Brothers have been acclaimed as one of today’s leading Contemporary Mexican ensembles. Their original compositions and arrangements masterfully blend and celebrate the richness of Mexican folk music with the intricate harmonies of jazz and classical music. The Villalobos Brothers deliver an intoxicating brew of brilliance, cadence, and virtuosity that awaken the senses and mesmerize the listener.
