LUMA - The Human Light Show returns to Miller Theatre, having awed capacity crowds in 2009.
LUMA brings cutting edge illuminated technology to the stage fused to a wide variety of disciplines from dance, magic, puppetry, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatics, and physics phenomenon. LUMA depicts a world of luminosity from fireflies to meteors from carnival rides to screen savers.
Blending various physical disciplines with hi-tech illuminated objects, LUMA creates a ‘TechnoCircus’ that is born in the shadows and has audiences sitting on the edge of their seats with goggle eyes and slack jaws. The viewer experiences artistic depictions of natural, artificial and metaphysical light. Fireflies dance, shooting starts flash across a darkened stage, screen savers undulate, carnival rides spin and EKG monitors pulse the heart beat of the body electric.
LUMA recaptures that innocent fascination we all have from our first play with a flashlight under the covers, to our yearly pilgrimage to fireworks shows in the summer and our reveling in the holiday lights in the winter.
This is a ticketed event for the covered seating area. Free tickets are available (4 per person over age 16 while they last) at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between the hours of 10:30am-1pm. If tickets remain at 1pm, the box office will re-open one hour before show time to distribute the remaining tickets. As always, open seating on the hill.
