Boisterous, joyous, and irresistible, rhythmic music that makes you want to dance, Yemen Blues conjures up a rich and diverse musical palette with percussion, oud, horns, and strings. Founded by Ravid Kahalani in 2010, Yemen Blues creates an original work featuring Yemen and West African sounds with contemporary grooves, blues, funk, mambo, and African soul. This performance is generously underwritten by The Maurice Amado Foundation.

The group appeared in Paste Magazine’s list of 10 International Acts to Watch and performed a captivating, star-making set at the 2012 globalFEST—the most prestigious world music festival in America. The band is currently working on the follow-up to their stellar 2011 debut. With members hailing from Israel, Finland, Uruguay, and the US, Yemen Blues captures myriad global influences, blending them in to a seamless, soulful, and raucous stew.
