Phone: 281-FREE-FUN or 281-373-3386
Folklore Mexicano features the Leyenda Dance Company, a ballet folklorico group based in Los Angeles that specializes in dances from many regions of Mexico. Each dance is based on ethnological and anthropological studies conducted through travel throughout Mexico and interaction with the various ethnic groups and master teachers from those areas.
The group ‘s style is infused with refinement and stylization to fit into the most demanding scenic shows, world festivals, Hollywood movies or TV Shows. Still, Leyenda Dance Company manages to capture the original essence of strength, vitality, and intense passion of the Mexican dances. Leyenda dancers push their body to their limit to impress audiences who have nicknamed this group “Anthropology in Motion” for their intense performance, and their interactive shows make for an unforgettable impression of Mexican dance.
Leyenda has shared the stage with Banda El Recodo, Pedro Fernandez, Los Oroscopos De Durango, Mariachi Sol De Mexico and Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlan. The company has also been featured in more than 30 television programs and performed Ballet Folklorico in the 2011 films “The Little Fockers” and “Hop.”
With experience performing in international venues such as France, Italy, China, Hong Kong, and Dubai, Leyenda continues to strive to bring the beauty, color and drama of Mexican folkloric culture to audiences around the world.
Folklore Mexicano at Miller will include well-known and beloved music with new choreographies.
