Houston Grand Opera's Madame Butterfly

Houston Grand Opera presents Puccini's Madame Butterfly, one of the artform's most popular and beloved operas.

At her wedding to Lieutenant B. F. Pinkerton (Nathaniel Peake) to the Geisha Cio-Cio-San (Ana Maria Martinez) promises to be his for life; just three years later, abandoned and on the verge of poverty, she and her young son wait with fierce hope for his return.

Based upon the new production originted by the Tony Award-winning creative team of director Michael Grandage (Red - Broadway 2010; Hamlet - Broadway 2009) and designer Christopher Oram, the production draws its inspiration from traditional Japanese art.

This is a ticketed event for the covered seating area. Free tickets are available (4 per person over age 16 while they last) at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between the hours of 10:30am-1pm. If tickets remain at 1pm, the box office will re-open one hour before show time to distribute the remaining tickets. As always, open seating on the hill.
